We have posted about the chaps over at buffetlibre.net a couple of times now (here and here) and now they have brought out another series of their Verbena Selected and Verbena Rewind mixtapes.
The idea behind these mixtapes is that people whose opinions you care about have chosen the tracks and then the Buffet Libre DJ’s turn it into an awesome mix with a sweet intro. The “Selected” tracks are from musicians at the top of their game and this issue it features the likes of Cut Copy, Shy Child, Alan Braxe, Damage and Busy P. My favourite of this group is probably Damage’s selection of the Midnight Juggernauts “Nine Lives” closely followed by Data’s choice of Pacific!’s “Runaway to Elsewhere”

The “Rewind” mixtapes are selected by bloggers and other notables selecting tracks from the 80’s and this time it even features Electrorash.com with INXS’ “New Sensation. We chose this track for a couple of reasons:
1. They are Australian
2. The track rocks
3. They were new wave and were also the New Sensation
4. Their lead singer died in a way that signified the 80’s: full of cocaine and beating off with a belt around his neck (aka an asphixiwank)

Other notable tracks on the mix are the Human Leagues Don’t You Want Me Baby as selected by Lektrologik and Strafe “Set It Off’” selected by Discobelle.
