The Rogue Element

I’m pretty sure The Rogue Element was the subject of my very first post for this fine blog, all the way back in November. Well, I assure you that my love has waned naught in the interim, even if he hasn’t put out a wealth of new material over the last six months. More excitingly though, is the fact that he’s coming to town this month, kicking off his Australian tour this weekend with gigs in Perth and Sydney. Less excitingly, I miss these gigs due to a holiday with friends, but that’s no excuse for you to do likewise. He will be awesome, I assure you. I went to his gig in Melbourne last year and he absolutely tore the place apart. Here be the dates:

June 20 – Ambar, Perth
June 21 – Destination at The Cross, Sydney
June 27 – Mixed Messages, Melbourne
June 28 – Halo, Hobart
July 4 – Breaks and Enter at GPO, Brisbane

The Rogue Element has a new single due next month in the shape of a Panic Attacks/Sidewinder double A side, and this can be previewed on hisMySpace. Both tracks are pretty stomping, albeit in a more hard-edged, tech-breaks sort of vein. Still, a welcome return to the field for Mr Element. He should also have a full-length album coming out at some point in the next few months, so do keep your eyes peeled.

For your edification today I’ve attached his absolutely driving remix of ‘Minimal’ by Hardy Hard and Lady Waks (wait for it to properly unleash at 3:50 mark), as well as ‘Moves’ a charging b-side from his 2006 ‘Dead Drummers’ 12″. So worth the download. You can also pick up a set he recorded for Triple J’s Mix-Up last weekend from the ever comprehensive Breakz Linkz. So go on. Treat yourself to something different.

Its a big shame that people get to be successful ofending others…i´m not into minimal at all but i thing that using such argument to get to the top is just bollocks…sorry Hardy Hard & Lady Waks but r not better than anyone…

    Hi there,

My name is Luke and I work here at Spinout Records. We are a UK based record label releasing underground house music from the likes of Richard Dinsdale, Lutzenkirchen, LouLou Players, Switch & Hook N Sling.

We are releasing some high profile tracks in 2009 and I was wondering whether (when the time comes) you would be interested in featuring them on your blog?

I look forward to hearing from you.
    All the best,

    Luke
