With a suggestive title like that, who are you to resist? A heterosexual male? Well, read on and be ever so pleasantly surprised, because this (fortunately) has absolutely nothing to do with men of the musculature depicted above. Instead we’ll be taking in a couple of beautiful, pseudo-ambient remixes by our two favourite boy related producers, Boys Noize and Boy 8-Bit. I’ll work under the assumption that neither name is particularly new to you, but the sound to be found in each of these remixes is definitely a way away from their previous work.

First up we have the Boys Noize remix of the downtempo German producer Apparat’s tune ‘Arcadia’, one of the centrepieces from his astonishing 2007 album Walls. The original blew me away, but this 12 and a half minute (?!) remix is something else again. It’s the kind of tune that you’d have a 5 minute window of opportunity to play in any given evening, but if done correctly could probably bring the crowd to communal tears. If done incorrectly, you could probably take down the night single-handedly. Possibly best kept for the after party really… It’s out on magnificent 12″ from Infine Records right about… now. The boy(s) can do no wrong.

And next we have the already widely blogged, but still worthy of comment, Boy 8-Bit remix of Burial’s ‘Archangel’. If you haven’t already gotten onto and become lightly (or SEVERELY) obsessed with Burial’s off-the-charts gorgeous sophomore album ‘Untrue’, then I think our relationship still has quite a way to go. Boy 8-Bit (Mr 8-Bit?) doesn’t mess with the almost flawless original too much, but throws in some heavy kicks and a few extra bass pulses to give it a semblance of dance-floor suitability. Still going to take some finessing to manoeuvre it into place, but even so, it works pretty damn well as a tune of its own right. Anyone else get the feeling that Mr 8-Bit is going to be having a big year? He better…
