Shincihi Osawa keeps pumping out the tracks – this time with a 12″ of Push off of The One. The track features Frances answer to Mickey Avalon, electro singer Ania whose myspace you should definitely check out here.

The One finally get’s released in the UK today the 26th of January with this 12″ coming out on the 9th of February. release comes out today, the 26th of January in the UK and includes remixes by Alex Gopher, Tronik Youth and La Mode (as mentioned in my last post).

I think the Alex Gopher remix is floating about but I did manage to get my hands on La Mode’s version.

I’ve raved on about these guys a fair bit in the past both here at electrorash and irl. Bec even did a post about them a couple of weeks ago.

This year is shaping up to be a big one for the guys with some big name remixes (Shinichi Osawa, Edu K etc) as well as more originals. It’s awesome watching them as their sound matures from their early Bloc Party remixes and Salami to these two gems – particularly the Alex Gopher remix.

Speaking of Alex Gopher and La Mode they are both sharing remix duties on Shinichi Osawa’s new single “Push” which I’ve been promised a copy of – will hopefully get that up here tomorrow.

As a slight change of pace Southern Fried Records have created a remix competition whereby producers can submit their tracks to be remixed by “The One” Shinichi Osawa and then released through Southern Fried. It’s a pretty great opportunity so if you’re making your own music or know someone who is you definitely need to check this out.

I’m looking forward to seeing the results…

Shinichi Osawa‘s Last Days is a great mix between sweet, melodic guitar and distorted, driving bass – and the video is no different.

Using animated ink drawings the video starts off with blotter paper but turns into repetitive, interacting characters. Like almost all of the videos we’ve been featuring over the last few weeks you can see how they would work so well to accompany the man live.

Good news for Australian readers is that Shinichi Osawa is coming out to Australia for a round of shows in March 2009 which is definitely not to be missed. Details are still scant as to whether it will be a live show or DJ sets but when I’ve got more info I’ll post it up here.

The first video is for Shinichi’s cover of the Chemical Brothers “Star Guitar” featuring the vocals of Au Revoir Simone. The clip features a montage of shots of hot girls repeating into the foreground. Kind of reminds me of the “My People” clip Krozm did for the Presets…

You have to watch until at least 2:33 to catch the sickeningly sweet Au Revoir Simone girls melt your heart. This is the first and only time I want to use the word “dreamy”.

In a shrewd move by Modular Van She are re-releasing their best track to date Kelly with a stack of remixes.

When I first heard about this I thought it was a pretty cynical thing to do for a company who’ve had a few losses over the last couple of years. It’s a great track but is this really necessary? Surely they could invest that cash in a new act, help buy back some of the Bumblebeez gear from the meth heads who stole it or throw another half million bucks at the Avalanches new album Chinese Democracy.

This is also the fourth time the track has been released having originally featured on their debut E.P. “Van She” in 2005, then as a 12″ in 2006 and it got tweaked again for this years album, “V”.

At the end of the day it really is a great track and seeing how Van She are getting a lot wider exposure now maybe some of the kids missed out on Kelly the first time around. I also don’t think Modular did it for the money, they must be getting fairly cashed up right now with Ladyhawke, Tame Impala, the Presets etc etc.

At the end of the day I don’t really care because it means we get some fucking great remixes. M83, Shinichi Osawa, Lifelike and Breakbot all put their two cents in with M83 and Breakbot coming out on top.
