Well we’ve been bloggin for a year and a half now which is actually a really long time.

We’ve had ups and plenty of downs (damn you Dreamhost!) and now we’re working towards ramping everything up with a new design. We’ve also signed up to an advertising network called Mr Chop who have helped us out with a bunch of campaigns including one for iRiver and one for Miami Horror.

Channeling Giorgio Moroder and almost every film clip from the 80′s Miami Horror has just released the video for “Don’t Be On With Her” off of his debut e.p, which is being released tomorrow.

The clip is also the debut of the Miami Horror band including Josh from the Peacocks on frontman duties and Ooh-ee on drums.

You can catch the live show later this month to promote the e.p. or hang out for the only festival with a decent lineup, Good Vibrations, in February next year.

The live lineup includes Rhys from the Peacocks on frontman duties and Ooh-ee on drums

I first heard of Sam Sparro through Russ Chimes’ remix of “Black and Gold” and now he is coming to Australia for shows in Sydney and Melbourne. On Russ’ recent tour of Australia he talked about working with Sam Sparro and how he was at one stage going to be a part of the live show but had to pull out at the last minute. In his words the live experience is “something else” and he described Sam Sparro as an amazing musician.

Signed to Universal / Island Records (new home of Ladyhawke) he’s got a big future as a recording artist but also as a producer with a long line of up and comers as well as established artists wanting to get the Sam Sparro touch.

Black and Gold was a massive hit for Sparro (I heard it at a cafe my mum took me to on Saturday) and the debut album is likely to be just as big.

Calvin Harris is a 24 year old DJ, musician, producer and general wunderkind from Scotland. But you already knew that.

“I Created Disco” was created by Calvin in a bedroom studio in Dumfries Scotland – he wrote, performed, and produced the whole thing leading to a record deal with EMI. His attitude has always been that you don’t need expensive gear to make music, you just need a good idea and passion. Despite his strong assertions Calvin didn’t actually invent disco. That mantle falls to this man.

Calvin started making music at 15 with his first commercial release at 18, “Da Bongos” and “Brighter Days” on Prima Facie (as Stouffer). From here he had limited success until “I Created Disco” helped him make a name for himself. And then the remix and production work rolled in.

Early in 2007 Calvin hooked up with Kylie Minogue to work with her on her upcoming album, eventually producing two of the tracks – “In My Arms” and “Heart Beat Rock”. Calvin insists it was a purely professional but we all know he banged her.

Calvin will be performing as part of the Good Vibes festival about to hit Australia (with Kanye etc) but is also doing some solo shows: these are the ones to look out for. In Melbourne on the 8th of February we get the fantastic Gameboy/Gamegirl as supports along with Andee Van Damage.

But I am also kind of bummed I will miss the Sydney show where he will be supported by Donnie Sloan with a live band – definitely a sight to behold. Hopefully some nice Youtube clips come out of this show.

The sideshows for Australia’s massive summer festival Good Vibrations have been announced!

The Rapture and Calvin Harris will be both be playing sideshows in Sydney and Melbourne on separate dates. While this is great news for fans of both acts it must hurt to be in Brisbane, Perth or Adelaide.

For me what hurts is that Kon the Louis Vuitton Don (aka Kanye West) isn’t doing any side shows. I hope something more comes of this because while I have ragged him in the past I actually respect the guy.

Calvin Harris will definitely be a must see side show. He is not only a talented and interesting musician with a killer debut album but Melbourne’s own Gameboy/Gamegirl will be joining him on stage in support. With lines like “shoes are what your moneys for/booty’s what my dick is for” and production work from Miami Horror these guys are crazy good.
