Gypsy and the Cat without the bombast but still packing plaintive vocals and cheesy string synths. Another worthy contender in 2011 from Brisbane’s surging electronic scene – a scene surging much like a river might surge after a torrential downpour.

I’ve never been one. Even though I had a compulsory typing class at school in year 4, featuring the indefatigable first lady of typology – Mavis Beacon. Y’all remember that shit? Typing to get away from sharks, typing to race cars, typing to shoot cans. typing against the clock. But always typing against yourself.

But allow me to introduce you to a talented little group from my hometown of Melbourne who have caught my ear recently. Touch Typist is the combined musical acid-trip of Nick Huggins (guitar/vocals), Mark Gretton (drums) and Tig Huggins (electronics). They’re an electro-acoustic outfit that’s experimental at heart, but has a good ear for a soothing, pop melody. Think Montag, Au Revoir Simone and LCD Soundsystem in front of a warm fire. Naked.
