soulwax was probably the best gig of the year so far, i saw them with new young pony club/riot in belgium/bang gang/others and it was mind expanding to say the least. i have always found their albums a bit lacking, but live it all came together in a fit of genius: driving, dirty synths, judicious use of cowbells and hand claps, strobe lights, white jumpsuits and a neon pink background.

but that comment about their albums being a bit lacking (in my opinion) aside, their remixes are incredibly consistent. my trip to london last year culminated at fabric where the glimmers and simian mobile disco both dropped the remix of “standing in the way of control” (you know, the song the chick sung on australian idol and then got voted off?) and the glimmers also provided the best moment of the night, coming out of “electronic battle weapon 8″ by the chemical brothers into the soulwax remix of robbie williams’ “lovelight”.

so yes, soulwax remixes have the inate ablilty to be awesome, and promote an atmosphere of awesomeness in any party area. so i am excited about the double album of soulwax remixes, being released on october 22.

these tracks were pretty big at parklife the other day, adam freeland dropped them both, and MSTRKRFT dropped the “phantom” one as well. The klaxons one is fantastic, hats off to any DJ who lets it play through so I can “get my dance on” to the second half freakout. awwww yeahhhh. i know these tracks have been blogged to death but hell, they are absolutely amazing.

to make up for it, here are two of the “rare/lost/unreleased” remixes, the felix da housecat and ladytron. starting to see a pattern here? soulwax remixes are awe-inspiring. again, if you have the playgroup one in audio quality above 80kbps, send it over! cheers!
