Soft Synths

I was personally branding myself/reading an article in Vice magazine the other day about obese Asian gentlemen who buy large pillows of popular hentai characters. This upset me greatly, so I put the magazine down and made a delicious ham sammich instead.

If I was going to marry a cushion or other soft derivative thereof, it would probably be one of these cute moog felt plushies. At least I wouldn’t look so weird hugging it on the couch.

Australia keyboard-slinger for hire Seja (not to be confused with Sia, but equally adorable) has taken inspiration from the work of fabric tweaker Pulsewidth for the cover of her debut solo album ‘We’ve Got Secrets But Nobody Cares’, which was released via the friendly upstarts over at Rice Is Nice a few weeks ago.

A bit ‘late to the party’ i’ll admit, but here’s the first single and video from the album, a truly special example of Australian synth-pop done right. Like Ladyhawke, but with more spunk. Seja’s handcrafted an intelligent and softly-spoken collection of electronic sunshine, plonked out almost entirely on analogue hardware.
