Shinichi Osawa Is So Awesome He Makes My Face Want To Melt With Joy

The One Rack

Big words perhaps, but seriously, have you heard this guy? Electrorash has been riding the Shinichi bandwagon pretty hard for a while now (in a previous post, I may or may not have referred to him as ‘god’), but Osawa productions have been few and far between over the last few months and the entire scene has lacked because of it. But now no more, because in the space of a single calendar week I have discovered no less than three, THREE new remixes for your edification. How awesome? So awesome.

The Subs – Papillon (Shinichi Osawa Remix)

This is Shinichi at his mayhem-ridden best. Perhaps less choppy than some of his previous anthems, but this is a never-let-you go, fast-rolling monster of a tune with big build-ups, crowd-wrecking siren synths and Goose-style bass lines. This tune makes me do my weird, little Skeksi-esque ‘yeah’ growl, and, I assure you, only the most charging of tunes can drag that frankly ludicrous quirk out of me.

The Whip – Blackout (Shinichi Osawa Remix)

Compared to The Subs remix, this can only be considered a disappointment, but that’s kinda like being put out by New York because you’ve already seen London. When it comes down to it, they both beat the shit out of Perth. ‘Blackout’ continues on in a similar vein to ‘Papillon’, sticking a bit closer to a four-to-the-floor formula than a lot of his previous work, but the results remain equally as devastating. This tune has a handy melody-heavy vocal breakdown though, which probably makes it a little more accessible to your less full-on dancefloors.

Popular Computer – Lost and Found (Shinichi Osawa Remix)

And just to change it up a little, we have this gorgeous Sunday afternoon gem. Nothing dancefloor directed about this, but throw it on at the after party and everyone’s going to have a smile on their face. Ah, bless. Cheers to Hyperbole for the pick up.

Surely Shinichi is due for a trip down here soon? I can only presume it would be a party of titanic proportions.
