umbrella Rihanna - Umbrella: the 1928 remix

I have to admit I wasn’t particuarly a big fan of Rihanna (of Pon de Replay fame) and her massive Jay-z-backed track Umbrella until a couple of weeks ago when I first got into the VNDLSM remix. I heard the track out and about in bars, car stereo’s and on the radio but as far as I was concerned it could take a number.

The first time that I heard the VNDLSM remix on a decent system though I was all over it and have smashed it a few times since then. And then along comes the 1928 remix/mashup to top things off (admittedly I haven’t heard the “Shazam” remix but I hold out little hope that it would compare to this).

1928 is the production alias for Melbourne DJ/Promoter/Producer Adam Burnell who has been a key player behind the scenes of Eurotrash bar in Chinatown. I dropped one of his sets here a few weeks ago and now he has proven that he has the skills to pay the bills behind the decks and the console.

Check it out, let me know what you think. Let Adam know what you think too.

Expect a lot more music coming out over summer from the 1928 bunker. Add Adam Burnell to your myspace now!

[Trivia for those playing at home #1: Umbrella has been the longest running single in the UK since "Wet Wet Wet's" single "Love Is All Around", back in 1994, and the longest running #1 by a female artist since Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You", which also topped the chart for 10 weeks in 1992.]
