Hey Pop Levi, if things with Beck (Potential Husband # 1) and I don’t work out, we should get married. I probably won’t cook for you much, but I do know a lot about dinosaurs, and you’ll pretty much always win when we play Pro Evolution Soccer because I’m obsessed with the sliding tackle button so you’ll have more free kicks than you’ll know what to do with. Sound good? Oh yeah and your new album is kinda rad. Kthxbye xx
So yeah, for me, Levi’s sophomore album, Never Never Love, is up there with Cut Copy’s one in terms of how excited I am by it. I’m not sure why I’m so obsessed with it, but it’s probably because the whole thing is just dripping with effortless rock star sass from the man who has that dishevelled-yet-delicate sex appeal thing down pat. Nowhere better is this displayed than in his upcoming single, Dita Dimoné, the charmingly retrogressive Levi’s uber-glam vocals eloping with an androgeny that oozes over its salaciously laidback and guitar lick-punctuated electronic foundation, which almost disguises the fact that it’s really just a break-up song about the eponymous Ms Dimoné. I could play it a thousand times over and I still wouldn’t love it any less. Dita Dimoné will be released on July 7th, following the title track which was released on April 28th. Never Never Love the LP is set to be released on July 14th, which just so happens to be my birthday. Oh thanks, Pop Levi.
