I have to admit that apart from being on Modulars DJ roster I didn’t know a great deal about the Outlaws until a little while ago. For some reason I just assumed they were some kids who played a bunch of parties in Sydney. They’re not.
Then I got the impression they only played minimal based on their 2004 release. They don’t.
The Outlaws is a Bristol born duo now breathing the air of the colonies in Sydney and generally running amok. They’ve got a pretty big year ahead of them too with remixes coming out of The Presets, Tricky, Toecutter and the Cassette Kids as well as a residency at Starfuckers in Sydney AND a radio show on London’s Kiss FM. Add to that a “homecoming” show at Glastonbury this month and a bunch of dates at Massive Attacks club “Tube”.
I will be catching them this Saturday night at (you guessed it) Eurotrash bar to finally hear for myself what all the fuss is about.
I’ve been loath to drop mixtapes on here for a while because they all seem the same, I get sent half a dozen a day and most of them are shit. This mix is fast and furious 65 minutes with 54 tracks from house to electro, rave, soul and rock. Can you feel it?
