Osawa is God

Goddamn it if our man Shinichi Osawa hasn’t done it again. The always on formKidz by Collete totally rocked my socks a few days ago by dropping some new Shinichi madness, this time in the form of a typically euphoric remix of Felix da Housecat’s ‘Radio’, the new single off Felix’s recently released LP ‘Virgo Blaktro and the Movie Disco’. It’s a little less chopped up and frenetic than some of Shinichi’s other remixes, but that doesn’t stop it from being equally as devastating. To my mind Shinichi remixes are everything that is good about dance music: simple but effective melodies, broken drum lines, thrumming bass and big ass breakdowns/build ups. Scary thing is, this is far from his best remix, yet it’s the best thing I’ve heard in weeks, if not months. Fuck MSTRKRFT, I’m getting Shinichi to remix my next number one hit. Now we just need some promoters to book his ass over here. That includes Perth.

And as an added bonus, here’s the ever so surreal film clip to the original version of ‘Radio’. I can’t wait until I’m famous enough to produce film clips where I can dress up as a king and gaze upon a decrepit landscape filled with frolicking, half-naked party people. And then have Moses throw a radio off a half-finished building… It’s a weirdly specific aspiration.
