New Shiny Toy Guns

Alright so I haven’t been following any of this at all, but then I heard Ricochet and I thought I’d better try and catch up pretty fast. Rumour has it that the darling of Shiny Toy Guns, vocalist Carah Faye Charnow, voluntarily left/was asked to leave because she wanted to move to Sweden for her husband. Fair enough, I suppose. She was replaced by Search For A New Doll finalist, Sisely Treasure. Ricochet is the debut single from their sophomore album, Season of Poison, which will be released on 2nd September and 4th November respectively on Universal.

OK, now that I’ve got that out of the way, on to Ricochet. I really wish I didn’t have to be so predictable in saying that I don’t like it so much, oh I don’t know, I guess it’s ok. If it was a track from a completely new band that had nothing to do with STG, I probably wouldn’t have such a problem with it, but I just can’t get past the old sound of We Are Pilots. If anything this track has made me remember just how amazing that album was. But I’m going to wait till I hear the entire album before passing any more judgement. Although if I ever meet the kid who left the comment, “Christ on a bike, Ricochet? More like Ricoshit.” on some message board, I’m buying it an ice-cream and asking if we can be friends.

Shiny Toy Guns – Ricochet

And for old time’s sake:

Shiny Toy Guns – Turn To Real Life

Thanks, LECOMPLEX, I guess.

I agree, I really don’t know how to feel about Ricochet, like you said, it all depends on the rest of the album. We’ll see if they can outdo “We are Pilots” because every song on that album was quite addictive.

Marilyn Manson, all the way, this is complete crap that has been done and done and done again. And she is heartbroken to have to leave the band, it was not the slightest bit her decision, and thats straight out of her mouth.

savant: I dunno what Marilyn Manson you’ve been listening to, but it must be as good as the crack you’ve been smoking.

Absolute Garbage. I WAS a huge STG fan. I don’t want to say that the music went downhill just because of Carah leaving, because the lead male vocals have always been great and I think they could have built on that. But they changed their sound COMPLETELY, and not for the better. What a disappointment.
