I wish my computer was popular, then all the girls would come to my house to meet him and marvel at his large ram and hard disk. Maybe if I was lucky and pressed the right keys he could introduce me to some, a popular computer is a good friend indeed. Even without the girls though, if my computer could make music like Popular Computer he would be my BFF!
I heard the Shinichi Osawa remix of ‘Lost and Found’ a while back when it was floating around and was intrigued to say the least. The original has arrived a fair while after said remix in blog terms but has ended up being a worthwhile wait. Popular Computer originally came into the light after his track ‘I Cant Forget You’ made an appearance on the Tiefschwarz Misch Masch compilation in 2004, but the first time i heard Popular Computer was his track ‘Darling’ on the Kitsune X compilation, such an amazing soft track with lush vocals and delicate hats.
‘Lost and Found’ is being released as a vinyl precursor to Popular Computer’s debut long player ‘Senso Data’ which is due out in October on Rise Recordings, it has a bit more of a forward motion to it than other tracks I’ve heard from Popular. The EP features remixes by Shinichi Osawa and Sweetlight but the pick of the bunch is the version which features a vocal by Pacific! which is near reminiscent of Paradise’s ‘In Love With You’. Stay tuned as we will have some copies of the EP on wax to give away soon.
