MSTRKRFT Plays Splendour/Melbourne

The lineup for the Splendour In The Grass festival in Byron Bay was announced a little while ago and it didn’t really grab me all that much. Sure I wanted to see Wombats and I wouldn’t mind catching Vampire Weekend but I figured these guys would probably come and play Melbourne for side shows and I could catch them then.

But with MSTRKRFT I kind of figured they wouldn’t do any sideshows since they were only in the country kind of recently as part of Parklife. But I can tell you now that they will be coming to play their own show on the 08/08/08. That’s right, they are playing the same night as the opening of the Olympic Games in China.

More details to follow but in the meantime enjoy this MSTRKRFT remix that always gets me jumping.

I wonder what their view on Tibet is? I will have to get an interview.

Damn. You totally preempted my Splendour post. Screw it, I’m posting it anyway…

Forgive the stupid question, but where is Byron Bay?

Also, I’m surprised your enthusiasm to see MSTRKRFT hasn’t been dampened by their underwhelming Bounce EP

Bec – do it. It will probably have more actual content in it. Like the lineup.

Also I heard rumors that Hot Chip were coming back this year….

Jake – Byron Bay is on the coast between Sydney and Gold Coast I think

And yes, the EP was fucking underwhelming but I am not going to hold it against them.

re. MSTRKRFT and their underwhelming EP – i can’t say i was totally surprised, i’ve never been a huge fan of their original production anyway. i think there are some artists who were just built for remixing…
