Well after years of climbing trees, walls, and on rooftops with nary a resultant broken or fractured limb, I’ve gone and obliterated my Bones of Steel record with what is hopefully just a sprained arm. I’m sick of telling the story already, so let’s just say a Kodiak Bear sat on it. You’d think he would have gone to the effort of being slightly more spatially aware, seeing as I’d just removed that giant tick from his left haunch and all, but wild animals. What the hell do they know.

To commemorate their first birthday, the brilliant Waves at Night have come up with the goods in the form of two brand new Moulinex remixes. The first is one we’ve been hanging out for since Luis Moulinex told us about it way back here, and it has certainly turned out to be well worth the wait. It’s of New York-based Kap10Kurt’s recently released track, Mission Complete, the fast-paced, punchy electro romp into which the Portugese-born, Munich-based Moulinex has infused many a crystal shard to sit within his playful, melodic layering. And the thing I love about Kap10Kurt’s production work is, like DatA’s and Kavinsky’s, it has a distinct narrative quality to it, it’s more than just dancefloor fodder, each track is practically begging for some kind of futuristic animated clip of which it can be the soundtrack. Let’s hope the Mission Complete one turns out as entertaining as the Dangerseekers one.

And then we have the delightful Cicada’s Falling Rockets, a track I’ve been in love with ever since Just A Band remixed it earlier this year and it became my profile song for months. This time around Moulinex has stripped the vocals down to a line and synthed-out the melody to fantastic effect. Visit Cicada at their Myspace page, and go to Plant Music’s page
