Jesus, it’s been like two and a half weeks since I blogged on here. I feel like there’s bugs crawling underneath my skin… No, wait, that’s the smack.
So, Nathan Vice. Remember him?. Puerto Rican chap, about yay-high, making face-meltingly hard tech-funk. Yeah, you remember him. That remix of Misterio’s Star Crash almost made you shit yourself in excitement when you first heard it. Didn’t it?… Actually, come to think of it, that was me. But you should totally listen to it. It will make your life a measurably better place.
But let’s not dwell on the past. Let’s look to the future, because here be some brand (well, reasonably) new tracks from Nate and they are, as you’d expect, just this side of super awesome. Hyperbole? Maybe, but this is a music blog, we veritably thrive on linguistic excess. Like that sentence.
First up we have ‘Change of Heart’, a glaring and hypnotic future flare of a tune, full of shimmering synth stabs, wonky melody lines and predictably chunky bass. It’s an oddly addictive and densely-layered track; every time you listen to it, it feels like something new leaps out at you. To my mind, it’s the best thing he’s done since the Star Crash remix, and very much worth the download.
Next up we have ‘Demecanize’, a brutally distorted and hard edged mess of bass and vocals with occasional turns toward melodic fruition to tie it all together. It’s all in those disco strings. And, of course, the grinding, grinding basslines. When the dark and heavy Elite Force says that you kick his face off, you know you must be doing something right.
And finally we have a straight up tech-house bootleg of… well, you’ll work it out soon enough. More of a roller than a stormer, this is still one to have the kids grooving along with a knowing smile on their faces.
And if that wasn’t enough, you can also download his blisteringly tough ‘Summer’s Over’ mix here (tracklist after the jump). So, get your download on and spread the good word. Nathan Vice WILL make you sweat ’til you bleed. And a tasty cookie for whoever get’s that song reference.
