Ah, more sun-drenched glory from Barcelona’s favourite 80s car themed electro-rock band, Delorean. You may remember me rapturously talking about them in this post. Oh, and this one too. They really are very good. And now they’ve issued another remix and, by my count, that makes it four stonking remixes in this year alone (The Teenagers, Mystery Jets, Lemonade and now The Big Pink). The boys are really hitting their stride now. Which is good. I was so into them before they were cool.
Small victories Luke, small victories.
This remix of The Big Pink’s ‘Too Young To Love’ very much continues Delorean on their journey away from the fast-paced, rolling space funk of Transatlantic KK (still well worth tracking down) and toward, in suitably Spanish fashion, more melody driven, Balearic territory. In many ways, ‘Too Young To Love’ continues a slowing arc begun with the remix of ‘Love No’, and continued progressively on through the ‘Half In Love With Elizabeth’ and ‘Big Weekend’ offerings. By the time we arrive at The Big Pink the entire party has collapsed on the beach and is sitting around in casual silence, blissfully watching the sun come up over the waves. You’re not going to dance to it, but that’s not really the point. This is all about watching the night melt away and revelling in the soft touch of the early morning sunshine. Mmmm, evocative.
The Big Pink – Too Young To Love (Delorean Remix)
Delorean have an EP of new music coming out early in the new year through the Fluo Kids backed Foolhouse. I, for one, am almost giddy with anticipation.
