It’s a fascinating thing when you find a band who are well-established, well-connected, and talented enough to warrant a very solid fan-base, and yet seem wholly and conspicuously absent from the blog(osphere)/s. Leaving aside the inherent assumption of self-importance in what I’m about to say, whilst researching the Hertfordshire-based Model Horror sans any help from the blogs, I initially caught myself thinking that there must be something wrong with them. I know, I know… You’ll all be happy to know that I was put firmly back in my place when I discovered that they have supported the likes of Does It Offend You, Yeah? and Autokratz, are releasing a single which makes them sound like the British equivalent of Damn Arms, and have played a torch-lit show in an actual real-life forest. A forest! I wish we had actual real-life forests here. Gum trees are so played. Turns out the reason Model Horror aren’t scattered across the blogs is because they just don’t need the hype. Especially when The Stool Pigeon can give this kind of recommendation, “More than a little bit marvellous. Think Klaxons disco beats, !Forward Russia!’s urgency and Bloc Party without all of Kele Okereke’s ‘I’m rather profound, aren’t I?” Ha.
They’ve got their debut single, (the Damn Arms-esque one) We Are Here, coming out on the 17th March via Fake DIY Records on limited edition 7” and digitally. I wish we could post it here, but, you know, dudes gotta eat, so check it out on their Myspace page. Also check out Folio Master below. I love how those affected vocals make you want to down your drink and make for the door only to realise how perfectly the spacey keys and stuttering guitars complement the whole operation and you’re all, “Oh… I see what they’re doing here…” as you head back to the floor, silently wishing you still had your drink.

That Kele quote was the funniest thing i’d read on a blog in a while
Forward Russia - as a novice what tracks would you recommend to get me in the spirit?
Definitely Seventeen or Nine from Give Me A Wall.
Sweet, will check that out when I have a spare minute this weekend
tight. where have these guys been?
I have no idea! I had to explain to their management in two emails what I’d be doing with the mp3, because they’re so unfamiliar with blogs. it’s kind of refreshing, finding people who aren’t blog-weary for a change. But seriously, check out the single on their myspace page. It’s awesome.
