I have always been a fan of really horrible mashups. There, I said it.

I think it’s because they are so accessible and fun. Not everything needs to be a 180bpm Toxic Avenger remix or Ellen Alien original.

My favourite one to play for a long time was Kylie Minogues’ “Can’t Get You Outta My Head” with New Order’s “Blue Monday”. Another (too) regular feature in my sets was Daft Punk’s “Around The World” with Wyclef Jean’s smooth rapping over the top

Daft Punk vs Wyclef Jean – Around The World

These are all pretty retro mash ups. Maybe the mashup is dead, a product of the 90′s.

This would have to be my favourite mash up that is actually pretty current. I will definitely be playing it out this weekend, maybe more than once. It just works really well.

Anyone got anything better?

thanks to Michael from Your Only Friends and the ever gracious Versus. I am crushing on all of you

Ah! Well in the vein of ‘Around the World’ mash-ups, although not necessarily better, is DJ ShyBoy’s ‘What Goes Around the World’ Justin Timberlake/ Daft Punk track. It’s good to drop at parties and watch people’s heads explode. What Goes Around The World : DJ Shyboy mp3

    Thanks for the track!

I think when you put the Gossip with Daft Punk, Bang Gang and Van She it is pretty hard to top.
Not that I don’t love JT, but numbers alone are going to hurt him.

For some reason the link didn’t work out kids so you will need to go to this link to get the track and check out the punkphoto.com blog.

It’s nothing. It’s one of those lame ones where the fish just go all 3D. No secret shark in this one…

    Love a good cheesy mash.

My favourite for a long time was Waters of Nazareth (dad to be Erol Alkan’s Durr Durr Dur Re-edit) with a bit of New Order – Bizarre Love Triangle. Or for some club flavour, Infusion – Do to you in ’82 with Phantom in over the top after the breakdown.

    Thanks bud.

Haven’t committed any of those mashes to tape, been planning on Ableton-ing them up, never got around to it (or know how to use Ableton good enough).

i remember you thrashing the first two mashups for most of last year, especially playing the new order-kylie in it’s entirety. and when i asked you for a copy of the daft clef you pointed to the shoebox of tunes and said ‘umm, it’s in there somewhere.’

    memoriiiiiiiies.

yeah man, both those tracks remind me of Perth good times.
So glad I got rid of that shoebox though, what was I thinking?

And now I have several different versions of Get Lucky to play into one another
