Following on from the two-and-a-half-years-late ‘Nine Times That Same Song’ remix album (previously profiled here), Swedish lo-fi rockers Love is All continue to dribble out small tasters in the lead-up to the still unannounced autumn (our spring) release of their second album. This time through they handed out a bunch of self-recorded CDRs at some of their gigs in May, which featured the band playing five covers, one chosen by each member. As they explain on their MySpace, “the idea behind this was that each member got to pick a song they wanted the band to cover and no other member got to protest or object”. Hence the fact we have Prince sitting side by side with A Flock of Seagulls, Lungleg, Dire Straits and somebody going by the name of Jed Dmochowski. Quirky. Fortunately the songs still sound reassuringly like Love is All - albeit even rougher than usual - which fills me with great hope for the LP ahead. Now just release the album already. I’m getting antsy.

[...] Love Is All covered “I Ran” by Flock of Seagulls which was pretty great live. You can hear a recorded version over at Electrorash. [...]
