Late of the Pier Debut LP

Sometimes in the heady world of effective human communication, my colossal laziness can get the better of me. Combine this colossal laziness with unbridled excitement and you have a recipe for appalling incoherence. Or whale noises, as my friends so zealously insist. As such, intended sentences such as, “Hanna just gave me half her apple pie!” or “That crazy lady at work who told us that God would judge us for laughing at those photos on the internet of a Jesus statue being inappropriate with some kids just got fired!” simply become, “Squeeeeeeee!!” Because sometimes actual words are just too tedious.

When I listened to Late of the Pier’s long-coming debut album, Fantasy Black Channel, I squeeeeed. On the inside though, because there was no one else around. It’s like Apes & Androids, but perhaps not quite as literal, and it makes me miss those clubs I used to frequent so I could dance to indie-dance-punk (whatever) tracks before (at twenty-three) I got too old for the crowd. And I love that they have a Lyrics section on their official site because it’s so late ’90′s of them, and I love that,

Ahh
Ahhh-Ahh
Ahhh-Ahh
Ahhhhhhhhhhh
Ahh
Ahhh-Ahh
Ahhh-Ahh
Ahhhhhhhhhhh

are considered to be lyrics. It bet all those people who have ever stood in an art gallery and proclaimed, “I could totally paint that,” are thinking, “Shit. I could totally churn out ‘Ahhh-Ahh Ahhhhh’ while I’m in the shower waiting for my conditioner to condition.” Absolutely check this album out when it gets released on the 11th of August.

I am just as excited about this. It probably means a tour later this year or early next year is in order. Big Day Out maybe?

Maybe sooner even? Second line-up for Parklife anyone?
    That’d be nice.

FBC is immense. I’m glad you put up Mad Dogs- it’s immense. I still can’t wrap my head that VW was written back in 2001! Also, apes and androids are the perfect words to describe them. I am so praying for them to stop touring Europe. They’re getting a bit greedy, those Europeans, with their endless amount of festivals.
