These guys are such a delight – easy, breezy listening.
Comparisons to Phoenix are inevitable and deserved… but :Kinema:’s lyrics actually make sense. I mean – you notice when you’re at a Phoenix gig or listening to a track at ‘teh club’, everyone in unison is screaming ‘baby when I saw you turnin’ down the end of the street’ like a football choir… get the next line and suddenly all you can hear is mumbling and clenching jaws.
Anyway. Not having that issue with :Kinema: – go to their website immediately, listen to everything they’ve got, including their Adobe-slab’d cover of Kinema – My Girls (Animal Collective Cover).
Their new single is Circles, and it’s out on old mate’s (aka: Tony Poland) label Hot Pockets right about now – Soul Jazz regular Secondo is on the remix taking this indy pop gem through the dubby-side of deep house.
