Initially I’d observed this year’s escalation of dubstep in a rather disdainful manner, but figured there was only so long I could hold out before I’d start to look like a wilful idiot. I might still look like an idiot for being so reluctant to embrace it in the first place, but at least now I’m an idiot who enjoys dubstep. For those of you who are still struggling with it, there’s no shame in that (even though I effectively just called you all idiots), and an artist like Jakwob might just be the thing you need.
Exploding onto the scene with his Ellie Goulding remix which people (including myself) can’t stop cooing over because it really is that good, James Jacob aka Jakwob is just getting fired up. With a FrankMusik remix posted on his Myspace page over the weekend, and Little Boots, Crookers, Ruth Kealy remixes on the way, there is more of this “transitional dubstep” fare on the way. But for now, he’s very kindly given us a copy of his Starry Eyed remix, an original, Wild Pitch, and his Teasers remix, which has all the nervous urgency of a series of irregular heartbeats. Follow him on Twitter to keep up to date with his future releases.
