I fell in love with Breakbot and the chilled out vibes of Please Don’t . This was the track I dropped at 11am on New Years Day to start my “all chiller, no filler” set. And it was perfect.
I had heard his remix of DatA’s “Aerius Light” before and didn’t really pay much attention to it – like Bec I thought the original stood up well on it’s own. But when I put two and two together I could see the remix in perspective with Please Don’t and now, I am afraid to say, love it more than the original (sorry DatA, it is still a tough call!).
DatA – Aerius Light (Breakbot remix)
Breakbot is actually 26 year old Parisian Thibaut Berland. He started out studying graphic design and moved onto film at graduate school which culminated in the animated film “Overtime”. The film has won awards all over the world and has allowed him to become an independent artist, working with several production studios around the world.
He has worked on television commercials, music video clips and helped out with the artwork for the Justice album (!!!).
On the music side of things he has done remixes for alb, arrow and Justice as well as the DatA remix above. In 2007 he put out his first release through Moshi Moshi, Happy Rabbit and is working on a full length album which we will hopefully see at the end of this year.
I was checking out the Breakbot myspace when I saw an old blog post he had put out seeking vocalists for a project he was working on. One of the responses was from Nick Littlemore of Teenager who lended his vocals to an unreleased Breakbot track. Can you imagine? If anyone has this please send it through ASAP. I will send you candy.
Breakbot – Please Don’t [highly recommended]
Breakbot is currently working on a remix for Late Of The Pier which we are expecting to be released early February. I wonder if it is of the ubiquitous “Space and The Woods” or something different?
It’s good to be back.
