Indeed. I’m still waiting, but at least I got the opportunity to search for images of ponies with a purpose more substantial than simply attending to my own amusement. And despite what my friends might think, this post does not exist entirely because the particular Swedish producers of I Always Wanted A Pony! and I appear to share a common interest. It’s just a wonderfully happy coincidence. It’s like the first coincidence there ever was.
Unfortunately though, being exposed to so many ponies all at once, I got the giggles, and the above picture, entitled, Ponies Lying Down, didn’t really help. Ponies don’t lie down, moron! Everyone knows they stand up when they go to bed! You can see the early signs of decay leeching through their disgusting bodies, and scores of hungry stray dogs from all over the neighbourhood are at this minute packing their overnight bags just so they can visit this impending rot-fest. Look at the stomach on poor Honey-O’s Pony back there, it’s starting to get a massive case of the cave-ins, and Foreground Pony’s face is decomposing into the ground so fast we could all come back tomorrow and that shit would just be hay! Where are their tails? They’re already hay!
Morbid curiosity aside, this remix has been burning a hole in my brain for about a week now. If ever we needed proof that Swedes can remix their fellow countrymen brilliantly, IAWAP!’s remix of Endless Summer by Göteborg-based three-piece, They Live By Night, is more than sufficient. The whole thing is so perfectly crafted, the original melody and vocals cruising virtually unscathed through lashings of distorted bass and eighties-inspired synths before the whole thing tapers off with a cosmically-flavoured synthy breakdown around the 4:00 mark. IAWAP!’s Tobias and Felix certainly have more than just adorable names to their, er, names.
The remix was released a couple of weeks ago as the b-side to They Live By Night’s latest single, Catching Up, which followed the release of the delightfully pop-friendly Endless Summer last March. They Live By Night’s self-titled sophomore album marks their return from a stint in Splitsville earlier this year and will be released on October 22nd through Razzia Records, so go here to pick up copies.

And to make up for posting dead-I-mean-“resting” ponies:

There are no words.
