I was actually thinking the other day about how much music I have on my hard drive that I never listen to. There is quite a bit in there that I almost always skip over when it comes on. That said I have never been able to bring myself to delete any of it. That would be madness!
Like the 2 demos I got in 2006 from some dudes called Midnight Juggernauts. I didn’t know who there were but it sounded cool. Now you can’t get that shit anywhere (the demos, not Midnight Juggernauts, you can get them in Europe and on their upcoming farewell tour).
Anyway these dudes from Sydney made this video. Well they were paid to make it but it’s kind of funny anyway. Isn’t it?
I do actually listen to everything I download though and everything I am sent. It’s just that sometimes I forget about it or never listen to it again. But they all get at least 1 listen!
How about you?
nek

Too many - I’m with you on not wanting to delete tracks even if they don’t seem worth the effort, but that doesn’t help me get through all the new tracks that pile up on my ipod - I start out with the best of intentions but invariably find myself distracted by particularly hot tunes or some random thought about another album or song - hopeless
My gay Mac keeps running out of memory.
My gay iPod ran out of space ages ago, but i stupidly bought a 3-year warranty on it.
Memory is so gay.
Oh and to pre-empt…
So is your face, Nek.
Bec: that still makes me chuckle everytime you say that.
His Whoreness: more and more lately i have been making myself revisit tracks of the last week in case I missed something. Giving a track one listen isn’t doing it justice. Usually I do it on Saturday afternoons when I am looking for shit to play on Saturday nights. But then I tend to always pick the same kind of tunes to go on high rotation. You on last.fm? I am eddiegunrunner (long story)
My last.fm moniker is hakopa (the Maori form of Jacob), but its being gay and hasn’t scrobbled any of my tracks for aaaaaaages - I think it’ll have heaps of Kitsune and Kavinsky and a serious spike on Sarah McLachlan care of my now former flatmate who thought he’d listen to her all hours of the day while I was gallivanting in Melbourne with the cool kids (and that was the short version of the story)
Oh and to pre-empt…
I am gay, Bec
hahaha awesome. I will add you now
Wait, so does that mean you ACTUALLY have a gay face? Awesome.
I’m going to add you too.
Gay like you would not believe
I listen to everything at least once, but I try to limit the amount of stuff I let myself download cos otherwise I don’t have time to form relationships with the tracks/find things I like in things I initially thought I hated.
That said, since discovering blogs it’s been kind of hard. The amount of bad remixes of third tier australian punk funk acts I have on my hard drive now that I have never even got more than ten seconds into before my gag reflex kicked in is ridiculous.
hahahahaha
That’s why I love you Tomas. So witty.
Half of my hard drive is D.A.N.C.E. remixes
Ugh. I know. But every so often one comes along that makes it worthwhile… actually the last one you guys posted was gold.
But can you imagine how much hatred you would have for that kids’ choir by the time you finished mixing down a D.A.N.C.E. bootleg? I find it bad enough when I hear it twice in one night.
Actually there’s this new Perth bootlegger dude, Hickey, who did a Justice-heavy fifteen minute minimixtape that I’ve been listening to an unhealthy amount this week. You should check it; http://www.myspace.com/hickeydisco (.) He’s just starting out but there’s some really clever stuff going on there. Me thinkie you might likey.
Too much music - Not enough time
4996 tracks in my iTunes right now
and of that i only listen to about 2000
ive listened to everything at least once though
and i’m there trying to listen to proper albums as well. i’ve become pretty brutally selective even with my blog downloading these days. i have my ipod hovering at 60GB or so, and i don’t want to stuff those remaining 20 with just any ol’ tripe. once the shit gets in, it’s almost impossible to excavate… of course my external has a good 370GB to fill, but i’m yet to find a way of strapping that to my ear…
