I’ve been listening to some great music lately which is so welcome. Three months ago I was so tired of everything that was coming out and really felt like I was going through a drought. Luckily some awesome people pointed me back in the right direction and now I have a great rotation going.
First up is Romeo Erotic who I found through a Discodust post a week or so ago. The original track by Starpoint is from 1980 but the update is amazing. I’ve been playing this in and out since that post and I love it. It just makes me smile and dance like a fool - a sure sign you’re onto a winner.
Starpoint - Wanting You (Romeo Erotic remix)
I’ve also been enjoying the new Breakbot track that I grabbed off of Hyberbole, which up until I met Dave in Sydney I was pronouncing “hyper-bowl”. We love Breakbot posting about him here and here.
I love the chopped up disco tones of this track which is so typical of Breakbots style.
Next I’ve been wearing out the new Justice remix, this time turning their Gallic hands to MGMT. Swoon. And while some people are not really into it I love the Aeroplane remix because a) it’s by Aeroplane and b) it’s not all about the bangerz guys. Seriously.
MGMT - Electric Feel (Justice remix) Track removed on request - on sale soon!
UPDATE: That wasn’t the final version. So here is a stream of the final which you can hear is a lot fatter. The above version must have been pre-mastering or something.
But alas I just realised I can’t post the Aeroplane remix so check out his myspace instead. But I can post their remix of Hearts On Fire as consolation… Actually I can’t post that either. Just go to their myspace.
Finally I have been listening to Rayflash (formerly Drinking Beer Cat). Rayflash is a young producer and DJ out of Sapporo in Japan who cites Belgian techno heads T-99 to be his inspiration to get involved in music. Thankfully he has moved away from the rave juice and we are left with some great tracks.
This track in particular grabbed me because I think it shows Rayflash’s beginning as well as some really great lighter parts. And that vocoder (or talkbox?) at the end is worth the wait.
Thanks to Aleks at Discodust for first getting me onto Ray Flash. I’ll do a bit more of a profile on Rayflash next week but this is a good starter track.
I think that’s about it. Let me know if you dig any of this stuff. Also let me know if this post is way too long and you didn’t read any of it.

Pretty sure a hyperbole is to do with English, meaning an exaggeration.. with that maths comment you might be thinking of a parabola [purwa-brah]?
