Gameboy/Gamegirl EP Out

Gameboy/Gamegirl

If you’ve avoided Melbourne funsters Gameboy/Gamegirl to this point in time, you’re probably going to struggle to do it for much longer. Made up of Jessica, Katy, Tranter and the mighty Miami Horror, GB/GG have been propagating their infectious brand of tongue in cheek electro sleaze through Melbourne since the tail end of 2006. However, since their posting at Parklife 2007, courtesy of a nod from Triple J’s Unearthed competition, GB/GG have been hitting up ever bigger events, recently playing Good Vibrations and the BDO, and supporting Calvin Harris and Robyn when they came through Melbourne. Running on from this, the crew have just pumped out their first EP through Ajax’s new label Sweat It Out, entitled ‘Golden Ghetto Sex’. That title tells you pretty much all you need to know about the album: piss-takey, boy-girl call-response, booty-bounce ghetto-electro. Yeah. Don’t you just love hyphens? Such lazy writing. Anyway, the EP is out now in all its 8 track glory, and can be picked up through Beatport, the iTunes Store, or even, god forbid, in material form from CD shops across the country. Wow, CDs. I remember those days…

In addition, GB/GG are doing a crazy sexy launch tour across the nation in the coming weeks, so make sure to put the effort in to come down and check out one of Australia’s best and brightest.

11 April - Candy’s Apartment, Sydney
12 April - Bourgeois Bogan, Perth
18 April - LICK IT!, Brisbane
19 April - Streetkid, Gold Coast
24 April - Rocket Bar, Adelaide
26 April - Miss Libertine, Melbourne

Their MySpace also seems to suggest that they’re heading off to do gigs in LA, New York, Berlin, London and Paris throughout June and July, which is, well… intimidatingly cool. But, hell, at least we get them first.
