Fromage is a collective of Melbourne musicians and DJ’s who were into disco the first time round and never got over it. They were into disco when it was cool to be into disco and they were still into it when it was very uncool to be into disco.

Now things have come full circle and the Fromage guys are at the top of their game playing some awesome shows and making some nice edits along the way to help the rest of us out.

Hall & Oates – I Can’t Go For That (Fromage Yacht Rock edit)

Hall & Oates – I Can’t Go For That (The Paper Scissors cover)

Here is a mixtape that Agent 86 has put together which helped me get through a long night of cleaning ahead of a house inspection this afternoon. Very nice mixtape and exactly what I needed but I can’t go for the scratching. Really? Is that really necessary to do that? Was scratching even popular in the original movement?

Agent 86 – Fromage Funk Mixtape [mixtape updated]

Tracklisting is in the comments.

The Fromage parties are held every second Friday at La Di Da bar in Melbourne including tonight! We had the Tropical party there last week and I went for Aeroplane as well and it’s one of the few places I enjoy hitting the “d-floor”. See you there?

sooo, you’re bitching about the scratching. Why? Could it be you’re a shit dj who can’t scratch yourself? And why must anyone follow your “disco” rules? dickhead.

we get that he can scratch, but to me it seemed to break up the flow of the whole mixtape.

there’s a time and place for everything. scratching wasn’t really need there

these guys have been pretty cool to me so don’t know what “ego” you are talking about.

In terms of scratching I think there is a time and a place for it too. In the case of this mix I just think it took away from the sound of it. It took me out of this really nice chilled out space and into this “what the fuck is scratching doing in here place”.

This is nothing to do with Agent 86 by the way, who I think is one of the best (top 10 for sure) DJs in Melbourne. Just a personal preference, you know?

Not a fan of the scratching either. Get your ears checked, Peter.

“Could it be you’re a shit dj who can’t scratch yourself?”

so unless you can scratch, you’re a shit dj? personally i would rather hear anyone play anyone tune, over hearing roc raida play a crabfest on a crossfader for 15mins.

Hey Simon, Travis here from Froamgedisco and thanks I am a tosser, I’m just glad an educated man such as yourself has taken the time to point that out for me. I should probably spend more of my time leaving such constructive comments on blogs and judging people I don’t even know. Thanks for the heads up.

Yeah, wrong tracklisting for the 86 mix. That’s the one for the Fromage mix. If anyone wants the Fromage mix with the tracklisting shown above you can download it here:

these guys were into disco the first time around? please… (they weren’t alive)

2nd, these two have only been into ‘disco’ for as long as it’s been getting them gigs. I remember one half of the duo playing punk-funk when that was in, the baltimore when that was in. So now it’s disco: no surprise.
