Evil Nine Return

Evil Nine They Live Cover

God, it’s been a while. As a reasonably devoted Evil Nine fanboy (check out some earlier tracks here – the Hazy Way remix and Crooked must both be jostling for a place in my top ten dance tunes of all time), it was with a heavy heart that I realised Tom and Pat had overlooked my years of loyal service and instead decided to grace the mighty Discobelle with their new single ‘They Live’. But, not to be deterred, I’m doing a post anyway. Because Evil Nine are fucking awesome, this song is pretty awesome, and the Trevor Lovey’s remix is super awesome. That’s quite a lot of awesome.

The single, which also features remixes by Rogerseventytwo and Breakbot, is due to drop on Marine Parade on August 4th and you can check out the other remixes at their Myspace right now. The album, also called ‘They Live’, is coming out in September and it’s filled with intriguing contributions from the likes of the Autokratz and El-P, as well as old fave Toastie Taylor, who was responsible for ‘Restless’, another astonishing Evil Nine tune from their superlative 2003 album ‘You Can Be Special Too’. Oh, I do like them so. The Evil Nine boys have done a track by track rundown of the album on their blog, so head over and get excited. Man, September seems so far away…
