If you’ve ever been out in Sydney (the good places, not the shitty ones) then chances are you’ve crossed paths with Emergency! Emergency!’s, Stephen J. Mitchell, being the nocturnal mainstay of our city that he is. Since releasing his debut EP, E!E!E!P!, earlier this year, Mitchell has been steadily working on his follow-up EP, and I have been bugging him to send us a preview. With Mathletixx we might only have the demo version so far, but it’s an exciting indication of what’s to come. It has that typical manic quality of past Emergency! Emergency! material, but this time it’s offset by a shimmering undercurrent and eased-up pace, and I’ve been playing it over and again these past couple of weeks.

There are a good number of Emergency! Emergency! shows coming up in Sydney, including tonight at Plantation’s Social Killers Club launch, so visit Stephen’s Myspace Page for details and keep an eye out for that new EP.
