Elke
So my lovely friend Jad over at Bigstereo beat me to this post last week, but since he posted Twist Oliver Twist! yesterday, i thought it would be alright to post this now anyway. Elke are from the sunny Gold Coast here in Queensland, I like it when you can draw parallels between a band and their environment and this is easy with Elke. Everything seems to shimmer like it was recorded just beneath the waters surface on a hot summers day. I especially love the sound of the guitar in Elke, straight away I hear the synths but on closer listen the guitar is just so subtle and warm and gives Elke this kind of antique quality. ‘Till I’m Gone’ in particular has such a familiar feeling about it, like I’ve heard it a thousand times already but in a good way.
