eclier Eclier

Dude’s as cute as a button, produces amazing electro, and comes from Krasnoyarsk, Siberia. Yes, Siberia. Of course, being part-Russian myself, (ok, ok, so I’m only 1/16th Russian, but whatever!!) I was on the Eclier bandwagon in a matter of moments, but I suppose some of you non-Federates may need more convincing. So… he’s been playlisted by Digitalism, Riot in Belgium and Midnight Juggernauts, is the newest signee to burgeoning Bordeaux label, Boxon Records, and has an official remix of Tom Deluxx’s Drama Queen coming out in July. Not bad, not bad…

Now I know I harp on about Boxon Records a lot, but with the strength of their previous two releases to back me up, I’d say they’re worth a(n) harp or three. And with their third release being Eclier’s debut EP - Boxon Say Hello - there certainly will be no change. It’s being released on April the 14th (digitally on the 28th), and features three original tracks: Boxon Says Hello; The Geneticist; and D.I.S.C.O., the latter already popping up in some recent mixtapes such as the one Digitalism did with Cajuan earlier this month). Also featured are two remixes, one by Eclier himself and one by the wonderful Tom Deluxx. See Boxon’s myspace page for ordering details in April.

Now I have no idea what Russian electro typically sounds like, but Eclier’s electro is like hard French electro, sometimes with the darkness of Mr Oizo (see The Geneticist), or the robotic falsetto of Daft Punk-like vocals (D.I.S.C.O. and Rocklier), or sometimes it can be all spacey Japanese-esque synths, which you can hear in the couple of older tracks below. Either way it’s all fantastically accessible and suberbly done. Oh and did I mention he’s from Siberia…? Definitely keep an eye on this one.
