Does It Offend You, Yeah? Debut

DIOYY?

It sort of feels like UK electro/punk band, DIOYY? has been around forever, quietly letting a handful of their tracks float around the net for the super-vigilent to keep track of, but in terms of “official” releases they’ve been a bit slow. And I was getting frustrated. Until they announced the release date not only of their We Are Rockstars 7″, but also of their debut full-length album, You Have No Idea What You’re Getting Yourself Into. The wonderfully prolix creatures that they are. Overlong album titles aside, we actually know exactly what we’ll be getting ourselves into, with the boys describing the Rich Costley (Interpol and Muse) -produced effort as not a full-on electro album, but also not a full-on rock album, ideally aimed at kids from the ’80’s. March 17th is when all you musically-forward 20-somethings need to pick up a copy. March 10th is when the We Are Rockstars 7″ will be released with the usual accompanying remixes. I just hope those remixes are better than the various shit ones I’ve come across so far.

So the album tracklisting is as follows:

Battle Royale
With A Heavy Heart (I Regret To Inform You)
We Are Rockstars
Dawn Of The Dead
Doomed Now
60 Ft Octopus
Let’s Make Out
Being Bad Feels Pretty Good
Weird Science

If you’re a massive DIOYY? fan you would have already heard half those tracks, so you know it’s going to be an extremely solid release, even if the rest of them are crap. Which I doubt. Check out their Myspace page to hear the 80’s-influenced rock-based track, With A Heavy Heart (I Regret To Inform You). I love, I love.

Now that the business side of this post has been well and truly taken care of, can someone please explain to me how/why DIOYY? tracks almost NEVER get played by anyone when I’m out? Maybe you DJ-types need to step up…

Does It Offend You, Yeah? - Se7en

Does It Offend You, Yeah? - Doomed Now [track removed on request - it's an awesome track too so best be getting that album]

Dan actually got me into them when I heard him play it out somewhere. Obviously doesn’t get played out much at places where you can eat dumplings at midnight and drink copious amounts of jager bombs…

i once did the best mix of my life between let’s make out and the shinichi remix of popper. with that said, at the time i was djing at home. by myself. but i think the dishes in the sink definitely enjoyed the electro-rock rinse out.

LOL Luke. What is funnier is that Amazon has made a link to your new dishes in a sink.

I will definitely try that mix again.

Duncan, you are dead to me.

  14. A good mix that works well is DIOYY? - Let’s Make Out with DatA - Aerius Light, both from the new Kitsune Maison Compilation! They turn out to mix very well!

But I was satisfied to know that finally the “We Are Rockstars” track is going to be released .. cuz i personally sent a msg to the band on myspace, asking about where i could purchase a 12″ copy of it .. but they never respond to me! But i’m thrilled with this post .. now i finally can have it! =)
