So Blake Miller is an absolutely awesome DJ and all of a sudden everyone knows it. It’s not enough that he’s the frontman of one of my favourite dance-punk bands, Moving Units, who released their long long long-awaited sophomore album, Hexes For Exes on October 9th (a month or so after the entire thing was leaked…) but he’s now producing remixes that I can’t get over. I’m seriously in love with everything this guy does.

His solo stuff. Well yes, it’s another D.A.N.C.E. remix which we can all add to our arsenals, (see Nek’s post) but after t r a w l i n g through the lot of them, Miller’s one, produced with the emerging Dutch wonderkid, Sickboy/Smithee, is actually probably my favourite. Yessss. And his Portugal.The Man remix? Sexy as christ, perfectly-crafted, and even though it just oozes subtlety from every musical pore, it always manages to stay in my head for days after I listen to it.

Then there’s Weird Science, Blake Miller’s duo effort with Steve Aoki, aka DJ Steve Aoki Kid Millionaire, who have produced the gem that is their Under the Influence of Giants remix. Listen to it, get completely hooked, and then listen to the original on the UTIOG Myspace page and get ready to spontaneously combust over how much better Weird Science made that track. It’s been transformed… kinda like the musical equivalent of what happened to Justin Timberlake, really.

And of course, there’s Moving Units. The guys who finally made an album that will compel us all to make out in dark corners till 3am. Apparently. Actually… The Kids From Orange County? Right On.
