The producer with a soft spot for wholesome Australian popstars has just sent us his latest remix, that of Datostrøm’s upcoming single, “All I Ever Needed,” and it is, not surprisingly, brilliant. Ever since Discodust’s Aleks articulated Diamond Cut’s sound to be, “somewhere between Lifelike and Anoraak,” I’ve been following his work closely, because you can’t argue with the dance floor-ready loveliness that can only come from such a desired position. Here he takes the bass-driven original of the Danish duo, David Fjelstrup and Tobias Øhrstrøm, and well and truly renders it his own, gradually pouring more and more of his wonderfully melodic synths over it until it becomes as head-explodingly sweet as Bag Raiders’ recent gem, Shooting Stars. That 4:38 mark just kills me. If I get to dance to this just once this weekend, it will be the best moment of my week (simple pleasures…).
Visit Diamond Cut’s Myspace page and say hello, and also visit his Facebook page to download his older remixes.

FUCK its a beautiful thing. this is by FAR DC’s best moment. i think he is only just finding his feet. it helps that the guy from datostrom has such a rocking vocal. DC would have been nothing without that vocal BUT he actually made it better. at 1:27 when the chords emerge and he redoubles them with the extra line at 1:42 when they lift the vocal even more!!! swelling building!! its beautiful. the datostrom mix (fuck Im angry that i dont have a o with a line through it on my keyboard – i know i can probably find something but its too much effort. does that make me a eurocentric fuck? too lazy to write the name properly? i guess it does) but anyway datostrom didn’t even understand how good his own vocal is! BUT DC did. he took it to a new level. the INFINITE EXPLOSION of the chords. fuck its beautiful. NOW. the issue here is where can DC go? could this be his finest hour? BUT hes getting better at focusing. more lifelike. he wasnt sloppy this time. he followed the vocal and allowed it to develop. its still a bit “oh look at me i can edit the vocal! ooh ooh ive got a computer” but hey… i can forgive that. what i cant forgive is the continued use of that little synth line. in every fucking mix. and his basic aggressive attitude and his explosive temper. so what if hes done a little gaol time for violent crime? we can forgive him. HEY DC!! you’re out now. no more prison. no more forced man love in the shower. that part of your life is over. move ON.
