New Dept. arrived last Friday. I was lazy, only just got around to listening to it and HAWT DAMN it’s a goodie. I don’t really dig the rest of Dept.’s catalogue. It all feels a bit derivative, not really adding anything new to the ever expanding neon procession of Australian electro-lytes.
But this is great.
They’ve remixed a track by Sydney’s The Jezabels who are making mid to large size waves around town. Be sure to check out the original.. swelling, heartfelt tune with stomping piano and accusatory lyrics that make you think ‘I’m going to take drugs now, just because you told me not to’.
This Dept. track kinda reminds me of DCup’s rejig of Together Lonely, which is also heaps pretty. Check them both out.
