OK well not quite yet, but it will be soon…
If you live in Melbourne or Sydney and you’re not freaking nuts, you’ll be kicking it with French electro super-genius, DatA this weekend at Lick It (Valve) and Trashbags (YU) respectively. Brisbane kids will have to wait till next weekend. Kids from other Australian states will have to wait till, well, never. Awww. Christ I love DatA. He’s what you should have listed in your ‘influences’ section instead of Justice and Daft Punk if you’re a budding electro artist who doesn’t want to look like a massive cliché. And if you want to get into DatA’s good books in the process, stick his idol Moroder in there too.
Now if I ever find someone who isn’t obsessed with the supurb DatA track, Aerius Light, I’d probably hit them until they were at least slightly obsessed with it. If I didn’t have such useless girl arms. And don’t talk to me about the Breakbot remix because I hate it.
Now seeing as he’s been kind enough to play for us on his birthday weekend, I think it’s only fair that we all dance ourselves into incoherence for him. I know I will be.
DatA - J’aime pas l’art - 2007 Remix
Nelson - I Say You Can’t Stop (DatA Remix)
[update: we have added the following track to the lineup - how on Earth did we leave it out?]
Tepr - Minuit Jacuzzi (DatA remix)

Oh pipe down, I just assumed everyone already had it…?
Yeah I think everyone does have it. I think I may even have several copies of it having absent mindedly downloaded it more than once.
that aerius light track is still one of my favs. i want to go to australia- now. those fools know how to rock. thx for the link, yo!
Breakbot remix after 1:50 is so awesome.
The choir-y “aahheeeoo” things are sweeeeet.
In conclusion: hating it is wrong.
I only just found breakbot the other week and am fucking loving it. So good.
Eh. The remix is fine on it’s own, you know, as a track in its own right, but when you compare it with the super-melodic and perfectly-crafted original, it’s just so far below par that i have to hate it as a remix.

[...] DatA’s “Aerius Light” before and didn’t really pay much attention to it - like Bec I thought the original stood up well on it’s own. But when I put two and two together I could [...]
