Christopher Robin

I have to thank the ever reliable (and reliably left-field) Monsieur P for pointing me in the direction of Aussie up and comers Christopher Robin [MySpace], two lads from Brisbane doing a fine line in acid-tinged, melody heavy electro pop. They seemed to pick up a bit of blog-love throughout last year with their frankly bitching remix of Muscles’ ubiquitous ‘One Inch Badge Pin’, a track which probably gives one a fair indication of what their reputedly off-the-charts live shows might be like. But now they’ve emitted a digital download demo, which is available for FREE from their MySpace, and features three pulsing, beautifully produced songs that combine heavy beats with a soaring, radio-friendly pop sensibility. It makes me think that 2008 could be a pretty fucking colossal year for the Christopher Robin boys. If you’re in Brisbane and Melbourne get yo ass down to one of their upcoming shows

26 Jan - Dusk Australia Day Party, Mooloolaba (DJ Set)

27 Jan - LICK IT with Adam Sky, Brisbane (Live)

31 Jan - Pogo, Melbourne (Live) [EDIT: Melbourne show postponed! Keep an eye out in April...]
And here’s a sampling for you to wrap your greedy ears around

Muscles - One Inch Badge Pin (Christopher Robin Remix)

Christopher Robin - Always

Christopher Robin - Vision 2020

    Most excellent post dude

These guys are fucking amazing - you spoken to them on myspace?

That remix of one inch is by far the best I have heard yet. Or at least the most refreshing, my heart is racing.

yeah, i’d completely missed them too (apparently they’ve played at click click before…), but the demo has converted me to the cause. as has that remix. i sent them myspace love and they sent back the melbourne gig cancellation. sweet.

cheers for the heads up ben, i’d somehow managed to completely miss their existence up until the demo got dropped. definitely think they’ve got the sound to get them a lot of recognition though. will be interesting to see how the year pans out for them. either way, i’ll be arcing up for their next appearance… when i can get my ass into the right city.

No shit this remix has been around for a while, but you know what? It ain’t organic man, it’s digital. You know what the means? It means that it doesn’t degrade. It doesn’t get worse with time. It is a lossless format.

    Is this a rhetorical question?

But yeah, thanks for the heads up.

In other news why did they cancel the Melbourne Pogo show?

Also wish that blog was back up. It would be cool to get more news out of Brisvegas - any hot tips Ben?

Haha, man I know what you mean about cities luke, very difficult trying to organise shit, what can’t bands and DJs be more accomodating? Oh and nek I don’t really know shite about the vegas scene, Finch Kids was just the blog that really got me into the blogosphere, i spoke to head finch the other day and he said that he lost all his music on his comp, harsh and that he’s slowly getting it back together, he really has his finger in many little pies around that area.
