A Brisbane-based electronic artist making a few ripples down south. He’s approached the new single Chalk Outlines with a dense, almost orchestral, brush that (for me) is jarringly offset by his dry, laconic voice. See what you think, ’cause while I really enjoy this in theory, there’s some anchor that keeps me floating off to oblivion, despite a stadium shattering piano drop during the bridge.

A brand spanker by two sisters from Bondi, now living in Sweden. This is pretty lush. As a general rule of thumb, the creative output of Bondi sucks, but this graceful debut really tickles my feminine-pop fetish.

One would suspect plentiful and unnecessary hand-percussion here if the twins hadn’t migrated.

When two self-professed ‘visual artists’ turn their hand to music and production, you generally call ‘SLASHY’ and promptly ignore them until they appear on the cover of Oyster mag several months later. At which point you pretend you were into it from the start. At least that’s what I do.

But me ol’ chum Dan sent me this new artist from NSW called Ginger And The Ghost and I gave it a go – their debut jam ‘Where Wolf’ a lilting forest-jam channeling the “girl vs girl in outdoor acid therapy session” attitude of Kyu.
