Buffet Libre – 80′s Cover Project

The dudes over at Buffet Libre have put together another great project in a series of covers of great 80′s songs and an accompanying mixtape.

It’s something that makes you kick yourself that you hadn’t thought of it sooner or done it yourself because there are some great results in here. There are some mediocre ones too but also some great ones.

The project includes the likes of Dragonette, Xinobi, Sidechains, Purple Crush, The Paper Scissors, Pomomofo, CSK OK, Louis La Roche, Keenhouse and Daroc. To grab these tracks check out buffetlibre.net.

I’ve included this track less because of the involvement of Moulinex and more because of sentimental value. Back in 2006 some mates and I worked together on an indie electro night in Perth called Cassette. It was held at a dingy karaoke bar with a light up dance floor in a weird part of town. To promote it we made a shitload of cassette mixtapes with the details of the night on them. The original was the first track.

Moulinex – Come On Closer (Pineapples cover)

I had my first DJ sets there under the name “Eddie Gunrunner” and in a duo with DJ Dandy. Together we were the Gunrunners and we are reuniting tonight at Eurotrash for a once off set ahead of a possible Perth pilgramage later in the year. Come check it out.

[update: you have to check out the Sidechains remix of Into The Groove!]

ah, i have so much love for the original, always brings a smile to my face. although the moulinex version does have a certain charm too.
