british release.

There’s been a couple of bands which’ve taken my fancy over the past week or two, and they’ve each just released EP’s over in the mother country.

First off the bill is a band currently supporting The Twang. They’re called Look See Proof and I think their tune ‘Casualty’, shows real promise for a small band. I recently read a myspace bulletin of theirs and they go on to say how they can’t believe that they’re going to be playing at the Brixton Accademy supporting The Twang, which really shows how much their music means to them, and it shines through. This single is very well produced, and seems to be very tight. I think give it some time and airplay this has ‘indie dance floor filler’ written all over it.

Another band which I found out about a similar time to Cajun Dance Party, is Late of the Pier, and they’ve had an amazing summer in the festivals in England. Two tracks I thought you should have a dance to are the released ‘Space and the Woods’, and the not-yet-released-not-sure-if-it-will-be “The Bears Are Coming.” They’re bang young these guys but they’ve also got the talent, just like Cajun Dance Party. They’re slightly obscure, but at least they’re not another Arctic Monkeys right?…. Wait. That is what I want. Bollocks.

And finally, two tracks from two existing bands who’ve been reasonably quiet for the past while, Hot Chip and The Hives. Well Hot Chip, havn’t been that quiet, they released that DJ record “DJ Kicks” which I thought was right dull, so maybe they should’ve kept quiet. None the less, they’ve clearly let loose on this new song and it’s all over the place. You have to check this out, it’s like they’ve pent up all of their talent since their debut album “The Warning”, and it’s had a shite load of interest added to it. It’s called ‘Shake the Fist’, and the clinical voices of lead singers Al and Alexis, once again add so much to their pop-electro sound.

Last for this week, is the Swedish outfit, The Hives. With their comeback single “Tick Tick Boom”, once again this tune has dance floor filler written all over it. It’s good to see these guys are back and seem to’ve took off from where they left. I’m not a massive fan of these guys, but thought it was time to pay some respect to a band outside of England.

Hope you like them,
