Bloc Party’s Mercury: Remixed

Pitchfork reported it way back here, and the 11th August release date for Bloc Party’s new single, Mercury, is drawing nearer. The single includes remixes from one-eighth of Machines Don’t Care, Hervé, as well as CSS, and Flosstradamus, the latter of which I’d argue does the best job. By a hair. That 3:42 to 3:46 moment leaves me a little breathless. The Hervé remix is perhaps not quite as sexy, but he has certainly delivered a gorgeously dance-friendly track. And CSS, of course, keep the guitars heavy and offset Okereke’s typically dark vocals with their consistently bubbly aesthetic. You can pre-order the single here now.
