Here’s something I picked up from So Indie It Hurts a couple of days ago and have been more than a little obsessed with ever since. Jacksonville’s newest golden children, Black Kids‘, debut single, I’m Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You, has been well and truly raised into the statosphere upon receiving the ever-wonderful Twelves remix treatment. The Brazilian duo, consisting of Luciano Oliveira and João Miguel, took that catchy, clever, and slightly raw original, creating a ridiculously current-sounding remix featuring some powerful ’80’s-inspired synths and Youngblood’s irresistable vocals. The Twelves can seriously do no wrong, because it sure is one slick puppy now. Pick up the single on April 7th on CD, pink vinyl and digital download from Almost Gold Recordings. And if you’re in the States be sure to check them out in late April or May when they tour with Cut Copy.
Black Kids - I’m Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You (The Twelves Remix)
Yeah and just to clear things up, those black creatures are actually baby goats/kids. They’re not dogs. This girl at work looked over at the picture and was all, “cute dogs,” to which I wailed, “OH, BLACK KIDS LOOK LIKE DOGS!” perhaps a little too loudly, judging from the horrified expression of the new girl sitting next to me. Great, so now I’m the office racist. Damn ambigious goats.
