My two favourite female vocalists right now, Ellie Goulding and Marina & the Diamonds have both released clips for their upcoming singles this week and they couldn’t be less similar. First up is the noticeably slimmed-down Marina’s bizarre clip for the revamped version of Mowgli’s Road, which will be released by Atlantic Records on November 16th ahead of her full-length debut. Directed by Chris Sweeney, it’s like a paper accordion-limbed tribute to the Single Ladies clip, which I guess is kinda cool. But while the non-paper parts of Marina look absolutely gorgeous, there is such thing as too much kook, and unfortunately this clip has it.
And next we have the clip that I’ve been so anxiously waiting for, Ellie Goulding’s Under the Sheets, which will be released on the 9th of November by Neon Gold Records. It has the glittery kaleidoscopic feel of a Florence and the Machine clip made even more special by the button-cute Ellie’s unbridled dance moves. These two blow the likes of La Roux and Little Boots clear out of the water and I cannot wait to see so much more.

Must say I like the Marina song more than the Ellie Goulding one.
I agree about the Marina and the Diamonds video, thought it was a little odd. Great voice though, and I like the Ellie Goulding video, will check out her stuff. Cheers.
I prefer Ellie…so 80’s…the production (sounds like Scritti Politti produced by Martin Rushent!), the glitter on the drums, etc…
Good old Ellie Goulding. I think I might actually love her. I’ve had that song stuck in my head for weeks.
Not so sure about the Marina video. I don’t think technology can capture the amazing hotness of her in the flesh.
Ellie is a great singer. The styles of these two are too different to compare though imo. Annie,Les Pirates,Ladyhawke… spark when I think neon(labels aside). If I have to vote I’m down for La Roux and Ellie Goulding in close second.
I love Under The Sheets and The Mille Remix of Mowgli’s Road is fantastic. I can’t wait for these two to release their debut albums and all their subsequent remixes to come.
