Describing themselves as a neo-Tokyo band that sound like Justice are playing Hot Chip. That is quite a bold statement to make but they pull it off, that IS what they sound like.

I have been trying to find some cool, new Japanese electro for a while now thinking that Australia and France can’t possibly have cornered the market (i kid!) so I’m glad these guys have come along.

Avalon debuted as a guitar backed band but soon developed into a syth heavy electro-pop group. Kind of like how Daft Punk got their start I guess, just without the whole being-in-a-car-crash-and-becoming-robots thing.

This is no J-Pop. This is Avalon.

Avalon – Exodus Testament.mp3 [highly recommended]

Check out their myspace here to listen to more of their music or to buy their current EP “4 GOSPELS FOR 2 TESTAMENTS”.

They have some stuff for sale on their Myspace.
I’m sure you know about Osawa Shinichi, Narctrax, Captain Funk, The Lowbrows and 80kidz already. The Japanese scene is slow to get started, but its coming along. Avalon is tight.

Hmmm. It’s like someone made a really involved mashup of the outro of D.A.N.C.E. and an instrumental of Hot Chip’s Touch Too Much.
