Nathan Vice (real name Nate Rodriguez) is a Brooklyn/Puerto Rico based producer whose curious lack of music blog profile seems to be in direct contrast to the massiveness of his beats. And massive they most definitely are. There are distinct echoes of hard-edged Detroit era techno in Vice's tunes, although the occasional blandness of that genre is mitigated by an electro sensibility and a tight, velocity building drum-synth relationship that seems to hail from nu-skool breaks as much as anywhere else.   I'm pretty sure The Rogue Element was the subject of my very first post for this fine blog, all the way back in November. Well, I assure you that my love has waned naught in the interim, even if he hasn't put out a wealth of new material over the last six months.   Sounds of Summer

  It's always kinda funny being lodged in the Southern Hemisphere, and watching all the wonderful summer festival themed dance and indie music emerge from the North side just as we spiral into the depths of winter.   Following on from the two-and-a-half-years-late 'Nine Times That Same Song' remix album (previously profiled here), Swedish lo-fi rockers Love is All continue to dribble out small tasters in the lead-up to the still unannounced autumn (our spring) release of their second album. This time through they handed out a bunch of self-recorded CDRs at some of their gigs in May, which featured the band playing five covers, one chosen by each member.   My recent posts seem to be more and more making a lie of the name of this blog. But I'm kind of in a rut of late, as far as electro goes. Too much repetition, too many clamouring unknowns, too few wonderful, exciting slabs of new dance music.   Finally, something to spice up the general monotony of Perth nightlife - a night devoted to reasonably monotonous Germanic techno. Yay! Tonight down at Shape we have all three of the above mentioned Berliners swinging through town for a 'Beck's Fusion' session - close to the only proper techno evening this town has seen in a good solid year or so.
