Acid-mutant-disco. Sounds delicious. If I didn’t already know that it was the self-penned sound of Osaka-based UK-expat, Matt Lyne, aka A Taut Line, I’d swear it’s where the Turtles used to hang out on a Saturday night once they were done foiling evil Krang’s dastardly plans. Except Donatello, who probably would’ve stayed at home to do heaps complicated maths problems or something because that’s what’s fun for him. I like Donatello. Anyway, Matt sent us a couple of very impressive remixes, the subjects of which are tracks from the totally remix-friendly British dance-punks, Bolt Action Five; and Electrorash favourite, NarcTrax, also hailing from Japan. (Untapped resource, anyone?) I love an artist with an interesting remix selection. And super-slick production skills. He’s also a bit cute.
As a bonus, I’ve added his remix of a track by pretty London band, Hong Kong in the ’60’s, of which he is a former member. Dude’s got indie cred don’t you know. He also writes a blog, Travels Without The Sun, which is well worth a visit. I hope one day Acid-mutant-disco becomes a legitimate genre. I really do.
